Art Deco Modernist Turquoise and Green Ceramic Vase by Beswick, England c. 1950s
About the Item
This Art Deco Modernist ceramic vase, originally designed in the 1930s by Mr. Symcox, was produced by Beswick, England, in the 1950s as a later edition of the classic design. Retaining its modernist urn-inspired silhouette, the vase features a smoothly rotund form, subtly accented by concentric ribbed lines at the upper centre, adding depth and texture.
Its turquoise and moss-green glaze is applied using an organic drip technique, creating a striking interplay of colour and movement. The tactile matte surface diffuses light gently, emphasizing the vase’s sculptural simplicity.
Stamped "Beswick England" and numbered 1552 on the base, this piece stands 21 cm in height and 13 cm in diameter. In very good condition for its age and use, it is a refined yet understated example of mid-20th-century British ceramic design, blending Art Deco aesthetics with mid-century craftsmanship.
