Large 19th Century English Terracotta Urns

About the Item

Large pair of 19th Century English Terracotta Urns. The urns sit on a square substantial base and have beautiful detailing of Gothic Revival gargoyles on the handles. The Gothic Revival movement was popular in England from the late 1800's into the 1900's. The glaze and black "splatter" finish makes it playful and modern. The splatter technique was achieved by dabbing or stippling of color with a sponge. This finish was developed in the 1800's in England. These antique urns would be a stunning addition to your home.
