1900s French Green L'Ideale Canning Preserve Jars W/ Lithograph Seed Labels S/4
About the Item
Found in France, a set of four, large glass canning preserve jars with chromolithographed labels for vegetable seeds, circa early 1900s.
The jars were repurposed for storing vegetable seeds supplied by the French seed merchants, and then offered for sale in the farm stands and small markets that dotted the French countryside. Printed using an old chromolithograph process, the label images are boldly graphic and beautifully colored.
The jars were hand blown into a mold with glass in varying shades of green or blue-green. The lids have an inner lip for secure seating.
Three jars show the L’Ideale brand name in raised lettering, one shows the brand name La Lorraine. Each base is marked with raised numbers showing capacity, ranging from .75 to 1.5 liters. The labels are titled in French and showing an image of the vegetable.
Radis Demi-Long, Ecarlate Hatif. An Aqua Blue jar, marked L’Ideale Brevetee SGDG 1.5 Liter. 8.75 in. H x 5 in. W

Extremely Rare Early 1900s Brass Altar Server Set or Church Mass Teaching Set
Located in Lisse, NL
For the collectors of very rare and museum worthy church 'teaching tools'.
We had heard of the existence of sets like this, but we had never seen one anywhere. To have found one from the Arts & Crafts era and in this amazing condition more than made our day. Including the altar cards (of which we are not sure if they are original to this set) and including the spoons we have counted 24 pieces in total. We learned that these sets functioned as a training tool for altar boys and this particular set has been extremely well taken care after. The wear on the holy water sprinkler with its ebonized wooden handle shows us that this set has been used more than what the excellent condition brass pieces would lead you to believe. Included in this set are 6 candle holders, a monstrance, a ciborium, a holy water container, a church censer, a boat, a sprinkler with vessel, altar cards, a chalice, an altar bell...
