Museum Quality Very Large Amethyst Centerpiece, a Mineral Masterpiece

About the Item

A very large, one of a kind epimorph amethyst. This piece is a visual spectacle with the natural sculptural formations of amethyst in a different variety of purple tones. Also displaying some quartz specimens in brown orange druze. An epimorph is a rare phenomenon that occurs where one mineral substitutes another. In this case there were several vertically arranged calcite formations, which were then overlaid in amethyst over countless years. With the passage of time the original calcite dissolved, leaving this remarkable complex of sculptural sheets of amethyst remaining. An exceptional, unique museum quality piece. The piece is all in its original, rough state, the back shows the rough basalt allowing us to imagine how it was spotted and formed inside the cavities of volcanic rock millions of years ago. This exquisite piece really makes us appreciate the wonder of nature and is reminiscent of a cityscape such as New York, with its large towers. A stunning piece, highly decorative and impressive due to its size and presented on a custom metal stand. This piece was legally and ethically sourced directly in the prestigious mines of Uruguay, South America. Uruguayan amethyst is internationally recognized as being the finest and most aesthetic amethyst in the world, due to its intense deep purple coloration, the large size of its peaked crystals, and its durability. These crystals were formed over 120-140 million years during the Cretaceous period, and as all of our pieces are formed naturally, they are completely unique and unrepeatable natural wonders of art.
