1750 Venezia Italy Green Lacquered Wooden Fireplace Bellows with Flowers

About the Item

This is a rare fireplace bellows in carved and lacquered wood with polychrome decorations of flowers on a light green background. It has original leather details and the bronze spout. This elegant piece hails from the Mid-18th Century, Venezia. The curved shape, on the front and on the sides, moreover the exquisite floral decoration and the bright lacquer colors, are the result of the high level craftemanships of the Venetian master cabinetery. The piece is coming out from the Gatti-Casazza Collection inventory label n. 188/9 (Venezia, Italy) a well known Italian collector living in the Early 20th Century, that gifted his collection of Venetian lacquered pieces to the Ca' Rezzonico Museum in Venice and where there is still. It is an elegant and surprising piece that can perfectly matches with the beauty of every timeless home. One of the distinctive characteristics of Venetian Baroque and Rococo furniture and decorative objects, is the skilful use of lacquers. Lacquer is a natural resin that was very rare in the past, imported from the East and used to create smooth and colored surfaces on furniture, ready to be finely decorated with refined floral designs or exotic animals. Venetian artisans became masters in lacquer processing which required time and patience because it was made with many steps. The Venetian style deeply influenced furniture design throughout Europe, but none reached the Venetian level in terms of beauty. The skillful use of lacquer and carvings defined Venice's unique style during the Rococo period, its Golden Age. Referring bibliography: G. Lorenzetti, Lacche veneziane del Settecento, exhibition catalogue Cà Rezzonico, Venezia 1938. Saul Levy, Lacche veneziane settecentesche, Milano 1967, II volume, tav. 445. LXXVII, figg. 161-162-163. Santini, Le Lacche dei veneziani, Oggetti d'uso quotidiano nella Venezia del Settecento, Modena, 2003, p.216, figg.201-202. The piece is in very good state of maintenance and it is guaranteed original in every parts. The surface was only cleaned not restored and it is original. The fireplace bellows has the Certificate of Authenticity and a full documentation relating to the provenance. The documents will be shown on demand in case of interest.

Italian Vintage Green Wooden Door from Capri
Located in Milano, IT
Wonderful Italian wooden door from Capri belonging to the 1960s, in a beautiful rustic chic style. The door is a classic rectangular door, but lower than the current norm because houses were smaller before. The door is made of fine wood and very durable, with clear scratches and wear, but this is what gives beauty to the object. The lower part is decorated with two pairs of rectangles, finely carved. The upper part, on the other hand, shows two glass rectangles, with a wooden bar dividing them in the middle. The door has a lock and handle: both are made of brass in patina, attached to the wood with two screws. The door is a wonderful piece of furniture to refer to the vintage and rustic...
