About the Item

Roman Grand Tour Bronze Sculpture of 'Olympic Pan with Torch' Italy, Circa Late 19th Century Early 20th Century, Stamped 'Italy' A Roman Grand Tour bronze sculpture of 'Olympic Pan with Torch,' made in Italy, circa late 19th to early 20th century, and stamped 'Italy.' This exquisitely cast mythological figure embodies the artistic and cultural essence of the Grand Tour era, celebrated for its refined craftsmanship and classical themes. Standing 9.75 inches high, 7 inches wide, and 2.75 inches deep, the figure portrays the god Pan in a poised and dynamic stance. He holds an ormolu torch in his right hand, his left arm and leg delicately extended, exuding a sense of grace and movement. The figure stands nude, with draping accentuating his form and his tail subtly exposed, adding to the mythological mystique. The sculpture is elevated on a 3-inch by 2.75-inch architectural pedestal, lending the piece a stately presence. The serious expression and open-armed presentation pose reflect the grandeur and symbolism associated with classical mythology. This finely detailed bronze is in excellent condition, ready to place and enjoy, whether as a focal point in a collection or as a decorative statement piece. Ideal for collectors of Grand Tour artifacts or classical-inspired art, this sculpture embodies the timeless beauty and mythology of ancient Rome, offering both historical and decorative appeal for any interior.
