Art Deco Period Hand Carved & Painted Butler Dumb Waiter Statue

About the Item

An interesting and whimsical Art Deco period hand carved and painted dumb waiter, this listing is for the butler statue only (the maid has already sold). Born in the early 20th century, the large freestanding statue figure, butler in bowler hat, having inset eyes, detachable hands that can be turned, rising from a plinth base. Highly detailed and decorative, life-like appearance, standing over three feet tall, very solid and sturdy. Circa 1920 Designed to hold a serving tray (not included), they can be used in a variety of ways, from bar cart service, wine bottle holder, handing out business cards to customers or as fun decor, this wooden piece of folk art is sure to add unique character and charm to your home. Provenance: From the estate of Dr. James R. Lucie, a well-known knifemaker, retired physician and author. He had a several-year waiting list of people wanting to purchase his hand-forged knives at the time of his death and at one point, had the largest collection of knives and ironwork made by William Scagel. Dr. Lucie is the author of "Scagel Handmade," published in 2010. Dimensions (approx): 41"H, 11.5"W, 12"D ***This is for the butler statue/figure only. No tray or other items included.
