A female bust, made of marble and with gray tones and with decorative carving on the upper body of the dress. A beautiful face looking obliquely, raised on a square foot.
Gustave Van Vaerenbergh (1873-1927) was a Belgian sculptor, famous and known for his female busts in early Art Nouveau style. He studied from 1888-1890 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gent and worked with Carli et Freres in Schaarbeek until 1925. Auguste Henri Carli (1868-1930) opened a studio with his brothers in Schaarbeek Belgium, where the later famous Gustave van Vaerenbergh first became an assistant and later a well-known sculptor.
