About the Item
A handmade 1970s terra cotta earthenware seahorse sculpture created by California studio potter Victoria Littlejohn. An early and uncommon piece from the artist. Cork backing with leather loop for wall hanging. Very good vintage condition. Unsigned.
Victoria Littlejohn is an American potter who studied ceramics at the University of Southern California, receiving both her BFA and MFA from the University. She studied with Carlton Ball, Susan H. Peterson, Marguerite Wildenhain and Peter Voulkos and was the Studio Assistant for Tom McMillin. Littlejohn founded “Victoria Littlejohn Ceramics” producing stoneware and porcelain. In 2011, she was commissioned to design terracotta pieces for the Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts.
