Murano glass fish collection
About the Item
The collection includes a total of ten Murano glass pieces forged and painted by hand during the 1900s. They are made by master glassmakers; one is certainly traceable to a well-known artist as it is signed.
Eight of these pieces are reproductions of various shapes and colors of different breeds of fish.
One is a small, rounded-shaped piece made of clear glass, with pretty stained glass inserts inside representing a coral and two small fish on each side.
The most prominent object is the one in the shape of an irregular parallelepiped with wavy edges made of clear glass with colored inserts, which centrally features a beautiful jellyfish. A noteworthy feature is the signature engraved on the underside: "G. C. Signoretto." Giancarlo Signoretto (Venice, 1962) is an internationally renowned master glassmaker and artist who, with his wife Agnese Tegon, has been working at his Fornace, located on the island of Murano, for more than 40 years.
