About the Item

A cast bronze statue with a panther and a bamboo monkey. It's a nice scene, the panther is surprised by the screaming bamboo monkey. Both animals have a beautiful expression. The sculpture is signed, Coreira. Artist and origin unknown. Made in 1950-1960. Point of attention: The bronze on the plinth has oxidized, turned green, see last pictures. Dimensions: 22 (H) x 48 (L) x 13 (D) cm.

A fine bronze casted sculpture of a Elephant with a calf, resting on a black Belgium marble base. The bronze has the original olive-brown patina. It is made in France, circa 1930-1940. Signed: Irénée ROCHARD. The sculpture has a beautiful patina and is in good condition. After casting the bronze is finely finished with fine chisels, for the fine details. This chiseling process was an enormously time-consuming job. Irénée Rochard was born in Villefranche sur Saône France in 1906, In a family of artists: his mother was a painter and his brother became The actor-singer Armand MESTRAL. When he chose the course of an artist’s life too, he soon turned to animal Sculpting in order to,as he used to say: pay tribute to animal.
