Francesco Zuccarelli "Fishing Scene in a Landscape" Engraving 18th Century
By Francesco Zuccarelli
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
This magnificent engraving depicts a fishing scene in the middle of a landscape with lush vegetation. In the foreground of this scene is a man standing fishing. At his feet a young woman and a child are looking at the water. Further back on the right, there is another fishing scene, this time with two men. The whole is immersed in nature. In the background is a shepherd with a herd of cattle. This scene was first painted by Francesco Zuccarelli. He was an 18th century painter and engraver. He began his training in Rome and then in Florence as a figure painter. Alter He moved to Venice. He was noticed for his talent in the art of landscape. 17th Century, Pair of Italian Ink Drawings on Paper with Studies for Grotesques
Located in IT
17th century, pair of ink drawings on paper with studies for grotesques, friezes and helmets. Painter of central Italy of the 17th century, signed with monogram “A.M.”. Measurements: cm L 45.5 x H 59.5 x 5.5; cm 22 x 33 / cm L 46.5 x H 59 x 5.5; cm 22.5 x 31.5 The pair of sheets, in good condition, is framed by antique frames in carved and gilded wood. They show some china studies with some studies for different subjects. Specifically, the first sheet represents the design of a frieze of Renaissance taste under which are some studies probably referring to a family coat of arms. Below the center is a monogram “A.M.”. The sheet is also worked on the back in which are drawn some articulated elements of decoration in the style of the Renaissance grotesque...

Frame, Wood, Late 17th-Early 18th Century
Located in Madrid, ES
Framework. Carved wood, late 17th-early 18th century. Rectangular frame that presents a "base structure" of straight lines, combining moldings of different widths and finishes (inside, a golden band with Fine plant details towards the corners; then a thin red one, and a wider green one, these two the latter imitating marble; outside, another fine gilt molding), enhanced with a series of carvings of vegetal elements in the corners (symmetrical composition), two ovoid elements on the long sides and a highly elaborate cresting with vegetal elements, rockeries, scrolls, flowers and imitation of fabrics (which are joined with those ovoid elements mentioned). The combination of red, green and gold is common in certain types of frames (compare, for example, with the terracotta of Salamanca made around the middle of the 16th century by Juan de Juni, which is kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum). On it, a series of carvings with a lot of movement and depth have been added, showing Baroque influence (reminiscent in certain details of works such as the frame of the Immaculate Conception by Alonso Cano...

Gerard Ter Borch Genre Scene "The Two Drinkers" Engraving 18th Century
By Gerard ter Borch the Younger
Located in Beuzevillette, FR
Humorous engraving typical of Flemish representations of the 18th century, representing two seated drinkers . We can see a woman with a glass in her left hand and a carafe in her right, while a man who probably drunk sleeps on the table. Beautiful achievement typical of the Flemish school of the 17th century. Gerard ter Borch - or Terburg - also known as "the young man" was born in 1617 in Zwolle near Amsterdam and died in 1681 in Deventer. He worked as a genre painter and portraitist and was very active especially in Münster and Amsterdam. He discovered his talent for drawing at the age of eight and became a pupil of his father Gerard ter Borch, known as "the old man". The Dutch painter Hendrick Avercamp supported Terburg. He studied with Pieter de Molyn (Dutch painter, draughtsman, engraver and publisher) for three years (1632-1635). He travelled extensively between London, Germany, France and Italy. He in turn became the master of his pupil Caspar Netscher...
