German Modern White Telephone Mod. Grillo by Zanuso Sapper for Siemens, 1960s

About the Item

German Modern white telephone mod. Grillo by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper for Siemens, 1960s. Telephone mod. Grillo with "shell" shaped in plastic. The telephone handset consists of two foldable parts, made of white plastic with buttons in black. Produced by Siemens in 1960s and designed by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper. The project won the Compasso d'Oro in 1967 for functionality and aesthetics. Good general conditions, it shows some signs of ageing. Measurements in cm 17 x 8 x 6 H The peculiar characteristics of this luminaire range from the availability of new materials, to technological evolution, to less bulky dimensions, to the search for new shapes and new colours. Consisting of two folding parts, Grillo eliminated the distinction between base and handset that had characterized landline phones up to that point. The result was an ultra-compact, light and essential object. Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper create a technological object that reveals its function only once opened. A phone to be exposed and not hidden. A small colored plastic sculpture to decorate your home with.
