Art Deco Styled Russian Majak Mayak Crystal Table Clock with Blue Face

About the Item

This desk or table clock was made by Majak Mayak of the former U.S.S.R. in approximately 1920 and done in the period Art Deco style. The clock face and movement is composed of metal with a thick and heavy faceted crystal case with steel supports on either side and a black molded base. The hands and numbers are done in stainless steel with a pastel blue face. The clock is clearly signed on the face as "Made in the U.S.S.R.". Please note this clock was purchased in the Moscow airport as a souvenir in the early 20th Century and never used. The clock is in working condition, but may require a professional cleaning.

This enameled silver desk clock is unsigned, so a specific maker cannot be identified, but the case was made in France, and the movement in Switzerland in the period and style of Art Deco. The silver content of the case has not been tested, but is believed to be Continental or .800 or just under .925 sterling, The front of the clock is ornately enameled with raised bright red flowers on each corner with contrasting black and red geometric panels with green accents, which are duplicated on the sides.
