French Neoclassical Style Malachite and Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock

About the Item

French Neoclassical style malachite and gilt bronze mantel clock French, late 19th Century Measures: height 42cm, width 22cm, depth 11cm This fine clock is crafted in the Louis XVI Neoclassical style from malachite and gilt bronze—with the malachite veneer being a later re-finishing. The clock features a cylindrical malachite clock drum inset with a white enamel dial beneath domed glass. The drum is supported between two malachite pillars, each complete with a tiered capital and each adorned to the front face with a gilt bronze mount. The pillars are supported on a shaped malachite base, which is raised on gilt bronze feet. The top of the clock drum is surmounted by an ornate gilt bronze and malachite urn-form finial.
