Art Deco 1930's Regulator

About the Item

A very fine regulator dating from 1936 in a restrained art deco style. The large precision 8 day movement with Harrison’s maintaining power, and a dead beat escapement with six bar wheels, is beautifully made with blued steel screws. The clock even has it’s own original hand cut spanner for undoing the nuts that hold the movement to it’s bracket in the case. This clock is a one off made for a jewellery and watch shop by the proprietor, and every detail has been considered down to the hook of the weight and the steel and brass pulley. The observatory dial is silvered with sharp engraving, the blued steel hands are finished with square tails adding a subtle deco element to the dial. The attention to detail extends to the walnut and ebony case, made as an art deco take on a classic Scottish drumhead clock with rebated dust guards and a solid 2 inch thick mahogany back board. The case is in excellent condition. This beautiful clock was made by John Clark, a jeweller and watchmaker from Forfar in Angus Scotland, who would have used it for timekeeping and setting customers watches. The case is proudly labelled twice by the local cabinet maker William Robertson who must have been extremely proud of his work.

Eureka Clock Company, London. Dial Clock
Located in Amersham, GB
A superb example of a Eureka wall clock made c1911. The electromagnetic movement is regulated by a large, slowly oscillating bi-metallic balance wheel, with the correct battery these clock will run for the duration of the battery life. Housed in a mahogany dial clock case with turned dial frame and brass bezel, the movement is visible through a cut out in the dial so the oscillation can be seen. The movement is numbered 5676 and stamped with the patent no 14614/1906 Made in England. The dial retains its original painted finish (cracked in places). This is the only model of wall clock Eureka made and is one of the rarer designs as they mostly concentrated on mantel clocks. The Eureka clock...
