About the Item
A pair of Scandinavian Modern Candlesticks, "Aniara" in brass by Pierre Forssell for Skultuna. The name "Aniara", springs from the title of a famous poem collection written by the Swedish poet Harry Martinsson. The very same book that greatly contributed to Martinson receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1974. The somewhat hard-to-define form of these candlesticks by Forsell can be described as horn-shaped, heart-shaped or as a tulip, but always equally elegant. They are in great condition.
The company Skultuna dates back from the 17th century. After hiring Piere Forsell (1925-2004) in the mid of the 20th centuren they altered their designs to a more modern approach to form, making Forssells impact on the Skultuna design heritage undeniable. The brass candlesticks Aniara are heavy, solid and are a well known Swedish design icon.
