About the Item
A pair of 1950s French Empire-style brass two-candle sconces.
Finely detailed throughout. Cast form features a flaming torch motif embellished with an acanthus wreath and rippling ribbons. Hand-crafted intricately engraved oval band with laurel leaf interior supports a pair of equally intricate candle holders with artichoke motif bottom finials.
We’ve seen matching examples of these sconces described as being bronze, though we believe this pair to actually be brass.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. In good vintage condition. Sconce at left: very light patina; an extremely minor bend to back piece. Sconce at right: moderate amount of darker patina; band supporting the candleholders is very slightly misshapen; candleholders are a bit tilted.
