About the Item
Glo-Mar Artworks, New York was a company that produced metal sculptures and decorative items from the 1930s to the 1970s. Glo-Mar Artworks' designs were popular among interior designers, architects, and yacht owners. The company closed in the 1970s, but their pieces continue to be highly collectible and sought after by collectors of mid-century modern design.
This particular set is an opulent Neoclassic Revival design. The frames are cast brass in a pierced foliate pattern with dolphins flanking a center-positioned urn at the crown of the frame. Each has a beveled mirror and two candle arms with intricate details leading to the candle cups. The ornate drip cup surrounding the candle holder is pierced for hanging ornamental beading if desired.
The pair would be a beautiful addition to so many room decors, from French Country to Shabby Chic to European Classical, these are extremely versatile in design and characteristics. With the option of hanging adornments, the creative mind will see many possibilities in these pieces. From turquoise drops for an upscale coastal room design to deep emerald green or navy blue glass drops as accents to the color palette, these definitely have creative possibility. - Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. This pair is in wonderful condition. The brass overall is consistent with little to no patina. The mirrors are fully silvered with very slight ghosted spotting. But this is difficult to see in most light.
