Pair of French Rouge Marble & Rock Crystal Ormolu Lamps, 19th Century
About the Item
Extremely fine pair of 19th century French Louis XVI style ormolu mounted rouge marble four-light girandole lamps.
The beautiful girandoles are surmounted by a cut crystal spike, above two tiers of cut crystal prisms and adorned with Rock Crystal drops, supported by a central shaft issuing four scrolling candle arms terminating in a foliate drip-pan and candleholder, over an ovoid shaped Rouge marble body mounted with an ormolu medallion depicting a bow and arrow quiver, flanked by swagged garlands and ribbons, the rouge marble body is flanked by two intricate gilt bronze maiden busts, resting on a stepped square rouge marble base with appliques, all raised on touple feet.
Meticulous attention was given to ormolu around the rouge marble urns.
