Large Sewing Box Lacquer Work with Pastoral Scenes, Early 19th Century
About the Item
A large and intricately decorated Empire lacquer work sewing box. Early 19th century Europe.
The box is decorated with pastoral scenes and an intricate pattern on the edges. The inside of the box consists of several smaller boxes, also depicting pastoral scenes in lacquer work. Consists of a total of 8 boxes of different sizes along with a small brush (the top of which resembles the other boxes by means of the lacquer decor) and a glass vessel. Seven out of the eight boxes feature pastoral scenes similar to that of the large box's lid. The inside of the lid for the large box also holds a large mirror.
