Etched Art Deco Uranium Glass Cigarette Box

About the Item

Art Deco period etched Uranium/Vaseline glass cigarette or trinket box. A wonder to behold when held under a black light and a truly amazing objet d'art, that under today's standards, would probably have never been made. The box features engraved and carved panels with a smooth glass lid. The hinge has a pretty fleur d'lis engraved design. The box interior most likely held the smaller unfiltered cigarette, which was commonly smoked before filtered cigarettes were available. Good overall condition with some minor wear and finish loss to the hinge. The deep cuts of the engraved glass panels look like there was paint in the crevices at one time. Minor roughness on one corner spot on the underside (see photo). Approximately 4" deep x 5.75" wide x 2.5" high.
