Elmwood Early 20th Century Makeup Chest with Doors and Drawers

About the Item

A Chinese elmwood makeup or jewelry chest from the early 20th century with five drawers and brass hardware. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this small elm wood makeup chest features a rectangular top with mortise and tenon as well as dovetail construction, sitting above a nicely designed façade. Two doors on the left, adorned with slightly recessed panels and rounded corners, open thanks to brass pulls on etched backplates to reveal a small interior. Four stacked drawers (two small ones over two longer ones), fitted with brass pulls on circular backplates, complete the right side of this organization. The sides are bare and the back is, of course, unfinished. We review all of our pieces and address issues we may find before they leave for your home; however, this is an antique piece, and as such it will keep its character and some imperfections, which is the quintessence of antique and vintage furniture. With its small proportions and warm patina, this Chinese makeup or jewelry chest from the early 20th century will make for a lovely addition to any bedroom.
