Antique Swedish Bent Wooden Tine Box, or "Svepask" genuine Scandinavian folkart.

About the Item

A beautifully rare Scandinavian antique bent wooden box known as a "Svepask" from Sweden, one can tell that this object has been used a lot, due to the beautiful faded blue color. This object is from the early 1900s and derives from a region known as "Västernorrland". The origin of these boxes derives the Sami people, the indigenous population of Scandinavia who used them for transporting objects while on the move. This one is old, but still intact, it has been used many times, which has given it a lovely patina. It is made traditionally out of native Scandinavian trees such as Ash, which is the case for this one and constructed with small wooden pegs showing its very old age. There are some minor dents in the wood, yet given its age, it is still in really good condition and a beautiful historical object. This will be a unique and beautiful interior feature in a traditional farmhouse kitchen interior or in any setting. This box is about 16cm (6.29'') wide, 11cm (4.33'') deep and 7cm (2.75'') high. The price includes free shipping.
