About the Item
Antique tramp art box, jewelry box or trinket box, called a trinket box, lined with wallpaper, made in France around 1900.
A beautiful form of folk art, anyone could make a tramp art object with what they had on hand, hence it is very rare to find 2 identical pieces, these unique items are highly collectible and highly sought after.
Tramp art is a style of woodworking that emerged in America in the second half of the 19th century. Some of the defining characteristics of tramp art include chip or notch carving, the reclamation of cheap or available wood such as that from cigar boxes and shipping crates, the use of simple tools such as pocket knives, and the layering of materials into geometric shapes using glue or nails.
This item is in good antique condition, usually they are damaged somewhere, this one has stood the test of time very well, a small missing part on the side, the upholstery inside is not original, but nicely done, check the photos for more details!
