1970s Patinated Brass Ashtray Table Sculpture Mid-Century American Design

About the Item

Similar to the ubiquitous Art Deco black bakelite ashtrays designs prevalent in American Diners and Bowling Alleys of the early Twentieth Century. The bottom is rounded like a coco-de-mer shell, and it rocks along the axis of the teeth. The bowl is not round but oval meaning almost a 1/2 inch wider along the axis of the teeth, almost imperceptible. The design seems reminiscent of the Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro especially in this wonderful and natural patina and staining.
