Stained glass work window - Tijl & Nele the legend and the heroic, cheerful and glorious deeds of Tijl Uilenspiegel (Tijl Owlmirror) and Lamme Goedzak in Flanders - 2nd half of the 20th century
This is a pretty and very colorful stained glass window.The windows are in their original frames and these are is in their old cream paint.
Tijl Uilenspiegel is a character from, among other things, Dutch-German folklore. According to the legend, Uilenspiegel was a rascal who roamed freely like a bird through the Netherlands and Germany (known in German as Till Eulenspiegel) in the fourteenth century, fooling everyone with his pranks. The legend also has it that he died in 1350 in Mölln, Germany. Here you can even visit a grave attributed to Tijl. The novel in which Charles De Coster recreated him in 1867, (The Legend of Uilenspiegel), says that Uilenspiegel was born a few centuries later in Damme, where one of the many statues in Europe state, which should represent Tijl.
