Large Cast Stone or Cement Buddha Garden Figure

About the Item

An impressive cast stone or cement Buddha garden figure with good size and serene countenance. The Figure’s hands are in the Abhaya Mudra position denoting fearlessness and protection. The Buddha stands in front of a raised elaborate background with Foliate and Figural decoration in relief. The back of the figure bears elaborate scenes featuring Gardens, Trees, Horses and Figural motifs. It has been suggested that the Buddha Figure is a casting from a Mould taken from an original and ancient Indian Stone Carving. The Buddha measures 32.5” wide by 11” deep (At Hands) by 51” high. The Buddha figure is set in a rough, stony matrix which measures roughly 26” diameter and was originally buried underground to stabilize the figure. Condition: Expected wear, stable age cracks and losses (To nose, finger tips, etc. )in keeping with the outdoor usage. There is an old patch approximately 3” by 2” on the far right corner. All of the aforementioned is for accuracy as the Buddha figure has lost none of His majestic bearing and the wear translates as a time-softened age patina which does not detract but adds to the piece as a whole. Approximate weight is 1,000-1,500 pounds.
