Antique French Limestone Fireplace or Mantelpiece with Overmantel or Trumeau

About the Item

A very handsome and rare antique fireplace that was made in France, circa 1720. It is completely made in hand carved limestone. The addition of the authentic overmantel makes this piece truly special. The overmantel is decorated with columns connected with an arched top with decorative molds. This rustic mantelpiece is in very good condition given its age. Its relatively small size makes it suitable for modern-day living. Condition details: The fireplace is in good authentic condition. It has undergone some repairs in the past and two retour molds are renewed a decade ago. Furthermore, it has some dents, but they contribute to the overall antique appearance of the piece. No structural damage.
