English Louvered Chimney Pot, circa 1900

About the Item

A popular fixture in the 18th and 19th centuries, chimney pots like this were used in Europe when homeowners began heating their homes by burning coal. The pot was added to the top of the chimney to heighten the chimney stack and increase the performance of the flue by increasing the draw of air, resulting in less soot and fewer fumes entering the home. This English chimney pot features a louvered top that makes a stunning architectural piece for a garden or porch today.
