This Louis XVI style paneled room is composed of two shelves and cupboards with double doors made of wood painted in light green in the 20th century. They frame a Louis XVI period mantel sculpted in Saint-Anne grey marble with a fluted decor on the header and the jambs. The mantel is accompanied by its trumeau also from the same period, made of sculpted woodn painted in the same colors as the rest of the room. American terra-cotta Beaux Arts architectural block tile. The academic architectural style taught at the Ecole des Beaux Arts incorporates French Neo-classicism with Renaissance and Baroque elements. This architectural piece is made of cast white glazed terra-cotta. Exquisitely detailed scroll and leaf pattern that can function incorporated into a building facade or a garden element. Good overall condition with some chips and overall crazing to the glaze, but structurally sound and sturdy. No structural cracks to compromise the integrity of the block tile. One of two architectural tiles offered here. This piece was found in the garden of a mansion in Poughkeepsie, NY. The tile came off of a building in downtown NYC...

This Wood Carved Vintage Angel Sculpture has alot of history. The Manhattan Angels were commissioned sometime in the mid-twentieth century for a church restoration in New York City. The sculptor, Bogden Bogkowski, was commissioned to carve these “angels” for the church’s planned restoration. Bogkowski worked on them for a period of time but ultimately the funding never came through and Bogkowski stopped working on them. In the 1980s Bogkowski died and the angels then went to his nephew who lived in New York. They remained in his basement until purchased in 2020 there until we purchased them in 2020.
