French 19th Century Louis XV Style Gilt-Bronze Chenets Andirons with Putti, Pair

About the Item

A fine pair of French 19th century Louis XV style gilt-bronze mounted figural chenets. The ornately decorated andirons, each with a figure of a resting Putto (Children) holding a torch flanked by a bird and an allegorical urn with ram-handles and wrapped with a snake, all above a classical shield of a maiden topped with ribbons and a bow, Paris, circa 1880-1890. Measures: Height 20 inches (50.8 cm) Width 18 1/4 inches (46.4 cm) Depth 8 3/4 inches (22.2 cm).
