About the Item

A Vintage Set of 4 Tall Filipino Capiz Window/Door Panels, reclaimed from a Spanish-Filipino Colonial House. A traditional design resistant to storms using the indigenous and abundant materials of the Northern Philippines. The frame constructed of the heavy hardwood Meranti (Philippine Mahogany genus Shorea), in three  divided sections each containing a grid of 88,  2 inch square panes of inset Capiz shell (Placuna Placenta). Each window pane with one luminous translucent Capiz shell each. The panels are currently hinged together serving as a screen / room divider having a total count of 1056 Capiz shell window panes. 20th century. Excellent Condition. As a screen the total length is 97 inches long. Each panel measures 94-1/4 inches high x 24 inches wide x 1-5/16 inches thick.
