Extra large 18 inch Qing Dynasty Famille Rose Medallion platter, Canton c. 1870, polychrome enameled glazes on a hard-paste porcelain body, with 'orange peel' or ju-pi texture, the center medallion with a single multi-colored bird in a floral garden setting, within a gilded ring surrounded by a band of six butterflies, the six alternating medallions decorated with heavily glazed and detailed court scenes and exotic bird, fruit, and florals, separated with pink floral and green borders on a gilded ground.
