Japanese Katakuch Wood bowl / Mingei Wabisabi

About the Item

If you are looking for something special, we recommend buying items selected by BROOD. We sell a carefully selected range of old Japanese items. We have seen tens of thousands of items. Based on this experience, we only list carefully selected items. We can only do this because of our many years of experience. Some products on the 1stdibs website may look the same, but the products selected by Brood are unique. This is a wooden (zelkova) katakuchi konebachi. It is a solid, gouged-out kneading bowl from the early Showa period, and was actually used at a soba noodle restaurant. It has the texture of being used for many years and the unevenness of the process of splitting and piercing by hand. It is rare to have a one-sided mouth. It is thick, heavy and has an overwhelming presence when displayed. It is a perfect match for pin vintage and antiques. This chair has a uniquely Japanese design that you won't find overseas. Would you like to have it in your room? Hard to find in Japan. Recommended! Few shops in 1stdibs offer this kind of product. We sell them with confidence. We also keep our prices reasonable because we want many people to know how good antiques are.

Japanese Antique Candle Stick 1800s-1860s / Mingei Object Wabisabi
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
Since ancient times, people have created necessary tools from familiar materials, passed them on, and nurtured a lifestyle culture in order to survive in the severe struggle against nature. Over a long period of time, the tools accumulate a certain flavor and reflect the way of life. The harsher the natural environment and the weaker the human being, the stronger the power of the tool. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly modifying and re-creating the things around us opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we carefully select and collect beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques. This is a very old candlestick...
