Japanese Antique Low Table, Wabi Sabi

About the Item

This antique low table was made in the Taisho era. The tabletop is made of a single piece of high-quality zelkova wood. The legs are lathe-turned. It is unified with a ginkgo surface finish that rounds the corners. In addition to being less likely to chip, the right angles create shadows, giving it a soft yet tight design. The legs are attached using the traditional Japanese method of "ari-za", so it can accommodate the expansion and contraction of wood. Even now, more than 100 years after its manufacture, the tabletop remains beautiful and crack-free. It is an excellent product with a structure that makes use of good old Japanese techniques. It can be used for a variety of purposes, such as a center table, a writing desk, or a display shelf. It combines elegance and functionality, and will bring a unique style to your space. Weight:8.6kg

Japanese Antique Tree Object 1900s-1940s / Wabi Sabi
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
Since ancient times, people have created and inherited necessary tools from familiar materials to survive in the severe struggle against nature, and have nurtured a lifestyle culture. Over the years, tools acquire a distinctive flavor and reflect the way of life. The more severe the natural environment and the weaker we are, the stronger the power of tools becomes. In today's world, where cheap and disposable products are encouraged, the act of repeatedly re-creating things around us by modifying them opens up a new world. With this philosophy in mind, we have carefully selected beautiful, powerful, and unique Japanese antiques. This is an old wooden object...
