18th Century Gilt Black Lacquer Chinese Ladies Dressing Chest

About the Item

A 18th century Chinese export lacquered George III style black and gilt ladies dressing chest, in the form of a chinoiserie secretaire, the top with swan neck pediment above twin cupboard doors, each decorated with vignettes of courtly figures in landscape, enclosing fitted drawers and pigeon holes and central glazed door cupboard, the table base with hinged leaves opening to reveal a compartmented interior above a single drawer, the entire decorated in the chinoiserie manner in gilt, raised on cabriole legs with paw feet. Measures: 60cm wide x 59cm deep x 157cm high.
