Rare Mens Harris Wool Tweed Tartan Inverness Cloak Coat, 1950s Estimated Size: Men's XXL. Please check measurements. Chest - 50” / 127cm (leave roughly 4" room to allow movement, clothes underneath and thickness of tweed) Waist - 50” / 127cm Length (Shoulder to Hem) - 46” / 117cm Sleeve Pit to Cuff - 16” / 40cm Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition - Single, small repair to overcape and one to jacket and a small number of tiny pinholes to coat, only seen when the coat is lifted up to the light. Nothing seen when worn. No stains or tears. An incredible gents cape coat from c. the late 50s / early 60s. In a heavy weight Harris Tweed that is perfect for winter. The main body of the overcoat has raglan sleeves and is a woven cream, gray and brown tweed with single breasted buttons. Over the top of this is a detachable cape detail in a matching tweed but with multicolored checked plaid panels at the front and a partially quilted lining. Fastening at the front of the cape detail is a bold black lionhead clasp, giving a traditional Victorian inspiration. Incredibly constructed, this is a rare piece of men's fashion that is timeless and classic yet could easily be worn in a modern way with jeans for a more edgy look. Harris tweed is a high quality cloth with an act of British law to ensure the fabric to keep its high standards, requiring the fabric be hand woven by islanders in the Outer Hebrides and made from a pure virgin wool dyed and spun in the Outer Hebrides. - Partially lined - Front button fastenings to coat, single hook and clasp fastening to overcape - Please see our other items for more designer and vintage mens clothing.
