Morgenster was founded in 1900 by my great-grandfather on his parents' farm. In 1900 Stephanus Vaessen was a farmer's son who lived on his parents' farm in a village not far from Heerlen. Unfortunately, it was not made for farm life, which was a hard life at the time. Stephanus was technical and so he started in the basement of the farm. He was self-taught and taught himself the trade of clock and watch repairer.
