Victoria Montesinos was born in Mexico City to a renowned Mexican movie director Fernando A. Rivero. By 1983 she relocated from Mexico to the U.S. to create lithographs after she was contracted by one of the largest galleries in the U.S. While Montesinos was working in New York she had the opportunity to work with acclaimed surrealist painter Leonora Carrington, which was highly educational for her. Despite her success in the United States, Montesinos made a decision to return to Mexico.
