This magnificent antique George III sterling silver tea caddy has an oblong shaped form.
The anterior and posterior surfaces of the shaped body are embellished with embossed and chased scenes of a figure gathering fruit from overhead foliage, with a conical structure in the background.
This scene is surmounted with a winged oriental dragon design to the upper portion, its tail entwining the surround ornamentation and scales emanating across the upper rounded portion.
Either end of this Georgian tea caddy is ornamented with a swept tiered building, reflecting the same chinoiserie style as the aforementioned sides.
Each scene is bordered with impressive opposing scroll designs accented with shaped panels of scale textures with shell motifs and incorporating a continuation of stemmed floral and foliate designs to each corner.
The upper portion of this impressive tea caddy is fitted with an elevated plain rounded, rectangular rim and retains the original hinged hallmarked cover with impressive chased stemmed floral and foliate decoration and finial.
