Seen Art

American, b. 1961
Born in 1961, Richard “Richie” Mirando, aka SEEN is one of the most well-known graffiti artists in the world. Hailing from the Bronx, New York, he and his United Artists (UA) crew were some of the first to popularize painting on trains. Known as the ‘Godfather of Graffiti’, SEEN began spray-painting trains on the New York Subway at the age of 11. “One day, I had two cans of spray paint, and I just walked to the train yard and I went through the hole in the fence and I painted my first train. Once I figured out the game there was no stopping me. From that point on it was a whole new world.” – SEEN For the next 16 years SEEN pieces were running across the city and on all lines, but they were especially prominent on the 2, 5 and 6 lines. He was responsible for dozens of whole-car top-to-bottoms, many of which have become iconic images of the time. It was during the early 1980s that SEEN started producing work on canvas, shown by galleries and bought by museums and private collectors across the globe. These included not only solo exhibitions but also group shows with artists such as Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Basquiat, Dondi, Quik, Blade and Lee Quinonnes. Despite the high demand for his work in Europe and constant world travel, SEEN continued to hit the New York subway trains until 1989, long after increased pressure from the MTA had stopped many from doing so. He was also featured prominently in the 1983 PBS documentary Style Wars. In the late 1980s SEEN also turned his talent to tattoo art, opening Tattoo SEEN, which quickly became one of the most successful studios in New York. SEEN's body of work includes three-dimensional sculpture, mixed media work with reclaimed or discarded materials (often found in the street), and a series of hand painted, limited edition MTA New York subway maps. He continues to exhibit worldwide and produce work with and alongside artists such as Banksy.

About the Artist: Seen (American, born 1961) is a street artist best known for his graffiti works which covered MTA train cars along the New York subway system during the 1970s. Characterized by bright block letters and cartoonish depictions of human figures, the artist’s paintings and tattoos are influenced by comic books and television shows. “Graffiti lost its edge in the mid-1980s, and that’s why I needed to find other mediums like tattooing and clothing to put my name to,” he explained. Born Richard Mirando in 1961 in the Bronx, NY, he first began spray painting in 1973, alongside his graffiti crew United Artists. By the early 1980s, Seen had transitioned to work on canvas and began participating in shows alongside Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Love Meditation - Original Graffiti Painting on Canvas
By Amber Goldhammer
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles artist Amber Goldhammer paints dramatic abstract compositions in acrylic on canvas featuring energetic brushstrokes. Goldhammer uses her contemporary paintings to express emotions akin to silent poetry while drawing inspiration for her palette from the layered world around her. Her artworks include layered textures and playful details along the surfaces. She repeatedly uses words that come together to form a harmonious composition. This original graffiti-inspired painting measures 18 inches high by 24 inches wide. The sides are painted grey and it does not require framing. It is wired and ready to hang. This painting is signed and titled by the artist on the back. Convenient local Los Angeles area shipping. Affordable Continental U.S. and global shipping also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Amber Goldhammer is best known for creating vibrant abstract paintings with a street art edge. She originally started painting with pigments, powders, and waxes and went on to experiment with different mediums and processes to keep evolving her artworks. As love and joy are paramount emotions in life, Goldhammer hopes her series incorporating the “I Love You” message expands to reach a wide audience. Connecting people through public art is one way she believes her street murals can impact lives, as it is impossible to view her work and not feel a sense of joy and love. Painting a convergence of color and emotion, she builds and layers bold colors organically, allowing the process to determine the outcome. There is no analyzing, conceptualizing, or judging that takes place. It all happens in the moment, as a union between her, the canvas, and the paint. Her original art can be seen on canvases, interior wall surfaces, outdoor facilities, furnishing elements, clothing, and accessories. Amber Goldhammer frequently draws inspiration for her palette from nature and the colors of the ocean, saying, “I get to take in the essence of the ocean every day, which fuels my creativity and brings me peace.” She draws a fascinating parallel between her highly coveted paintings and the diverse tapestry of the world around us. Just as a field of flowers may initially appear uniform, upon closer inspection, the intricate beauty of each unique blossom becomes evident. Her artwork mirrors this intricate beauty and complexity, offering a captivating journey for art enthusiasts in search of original, one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect the rich diversity of our surroundings. A worldwide collected young artist with ongoing concurrent exhibitions in galleries throughout the United States and Switzerland, Goldhammer's artworks have also been exhibited at major international art fairs. Her original paintings have been showcased in print and online publications and on such TV series as “Million Dollar Listing,” “Being Mary Jane,” “The Catch” as well as both multi-Emmy® nominated series, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, and “Scandal.” Goldhammer’s art is also featured on Netflix’s original series, “G.L.O.W.” by “Weeds” creator, Jenji Kohan. Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Amber Goldhammer's original artworks since 2011. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of affordable original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards. The Pump Man Will Make You Jump Man - Vibrant Original Figurative Soccer Art
By Danny Brown
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Danny Brown is a first-generation American urban artist born in Los Angeles. His parents relocated their family from Oaxaca, Mexico in search of opportunity in the United States. Danny Brown’s artworks allocate an intrinsic connection between himself and the diverse communities occupying Los Angeles. Brown combines art history, streetwear trends, and pop art symbolism to create a signature style with a soft and fun, yet edgy character. This one-of-a-kind acrylic painting on canvas measures 20 inches high by 16 inches wide. This artwork is not framed. This painting is signed by Brown on the back. Convenient local Los Angeles area shipping. Affordable Continental U.S. and International shipping also available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Danny Brown uses his interest in fashion as well as his knowledge of color, design, and culture as inspiration for his paintings. The loss of friends to violence and incarceration, combined with the loss of a family member to gang violence pushed Brown to use art as a source of therapy and to project a positive inspiring image for his community. Brown’s art coalesces youth culture, art history, fashion and American consumerism and melds them all to create his unique style. Instantly relatable and recognizable, his cathartic paintings represent contemporary issues as well as a demographic that is traditionally underrepresented in fine art. His works speak to young Americans and inspire a whole new generation of art collectors and admirers. Since 2016, Daniel Brown has exhibited at MoMA PS1 in New York City, and various galleries in Los Angeles.
