Sam Diamond
Sam Diamond was a Polish/American artist born on May 1st, 1919, in Warsaw, Poland. His family immigrated to the United States in November 1919. Diamond began drawing at six years of age and continued an active interest in art throughout his school years. He graduated from the Long Beach High School in 1936, at 16 years of age and was awarded a scholarship to Pratt Institute. He received an art certificate from the Pratt Institute in 1939. Diamond was enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was a part of the Film Strip Division doing artwork for training manuals from 1941–46. He formed an advertising art studio in 1946 and continued painting and sculpture to the present. Diamond was awarded for his sculpture and painting by the Westchester Art Society and had two exhibitions in Harrison, New York.
