A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection.
This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form.
The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center.
The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.
This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck.

Classic circular tapering form with a shaped base, heavy solid silver with a beautifully turned oak handle.
Fully hallmarked on the side of the body

Measurements: 3.32 inches in diameter, 5.25 inches to the to of handle, 2.13 inches height of vessel.
1714 was the year George I ascended the throne, making this an interesting, very early piece of Georgian silver.
Excellent piece in very good condition commensurate with age.
