One of the most prolific and revolutionary artists the world has ever seen, Pablo Picasso had a tremendous impact on the development of 20th-century modern art. Although he is best known for his association with the Cubist movement, which he founded with Georges Braque, Picasso’s influence extends to Surrealism, neoclassicism and Expressionism.
“Every act of creation is, first of all, an act of destruction,” the Spanish artist proclaimed. In Picasso's Cubist paintings, he emphasizes the two-dimensionality of the canvas, breaking with conventions regarding perspective, foreshortening and proportion. Picasso was inspired by Iberian and African tribal art. One of his most famous pre-Cubist works is Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (1907), a painting considered immoral and shocking at the time for its depiction of nude women whose faces resemble Iberian tribal masks.
Picasso made many portraits in this style, most often of the women in his life, their expressively colored faces composed of geometric shards of surface planes. In Woman in a Hat (Olga), 1935, he painted his first wife as an assemblage of abstract forms, leaving the viewer to decipher the subject through the contrasting colors and shapes. Picasso was a tireless artist, creating more than 20,000 paintings, drawings, prints, ceramics and sculptures. Henrik Schouboe first studied at the Copenhagen's Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1894-1901 and, from 1903-1910, in Italy and Paris. He was awarded numerous stipends and scholarships including the Larssen (1902-3) and the Akademie Scholarship in 1908. In 1906, he had exhibited for the first time at the Charlottenborg where his submitted entry was purchased by the leading Danish painter of the time, Kristian Zahrtmann, for his personal collection.
Schouboe continued to exhibit both domestically and internationally for over thirty years and was the recipient of a variety of prizes, medals and juried awards including the purchase of his 1908 Charlottenborg entry, 'Young Couple in a Landscape', by the State Museum of Art for inclusion in the Danish national collection. Schouboe's work is held in the permanent collections of numerous museums including Copenhagen, Aabenraa, Maribo and the Aalborg Art Museums. We are pleased to offer a delicate and psychologically penetrating portrait of this beautiful and determined girl on the cusp of womanhood.

Pablo Ruiz Picasso is the great genius of contemporary painting. Creator of Cubism with Braque, his inventiveness and creation puts you at the top of world painting. Born in Malaga, where his father was professor of drawing and director of the Municipal Museum. The Ruiz Picasso family soon moved to La Coruna and then to Barcelona, where the young Paul began his artistic studies at the School of Fine Arts (1895). Although the school is a completely academic style, the painter soon comes into contact with modernist groups that change their form of expression. Just two years later, in 1897, Picasso had his first solo show in the cafe "Els Quatre Gats". Paris will become the great goal of Paul and in 1900 he moved to the French capital for a short period of time. Upon returning to Barcelona, he begins work on a series of works in which the influences of all the artists who have known or whose work has been seen. It is a sponge that absorbs everything but retains nothing; You are looking for a personal style. Between 1901 and 1907 the Blue Stage and Stage Rosa develop, characterized by the use of these colors and for its subject with sleazy, isolated, with pain and suffering gestures figures.
