Norman Gorbaty
Norman Gorbaty was a young artist in his 1920s. His work was included in a 1954 show of American printmakers at the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). He studied at Yale under Josef Albers and Bernard Chaet. In 1956, Gorbaty chose to pursue a career in graphic art in the advertising industry, eventually opening his firm and becoming one of the most respected and creative talents in the industry for fifty years. All the while, through the years, he continued to create his art in the evenings and weekends. A 2011, New York Times article documented his stunning life's work and the virtual discovery of his paintings, carvings and sculptures, many of which are also published in the booNorman Gorbaty: Works of a Modern Master09, Donald Kuspit and Gorbaty and Family, Publisher North American Thought Combine). Very little of Gorbaty's work has been made available for sale.
