Antique Newcastle Sterling Silver Madeira Decanter Label / Bottle Ticket
By John Robertson II
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection.
This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form.
The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center.
The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain.
This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck.
