Painswick is an Original Oil painting by Eleanor Woolley. This painting was painted Plein Air in the Painswick valley overlooking the town of Painswick. The view is looking across from Edge common, the morning light catching yellows and pinks in the trees. The houses are nestled together, and look almost on top of each other from this view. This piece was inspired by a feeling of tranquillity walking through a bed of flowering heather. I loved the combination of birch trees amongst the beautiful pinks and lilacs. The soft lighting and sense of depth gives the painting a dreamy feel and draws you in. Mostly created with a pallet knife to create lovely textures. She also designed a great variety of items including rings, Jewellery Suites, watches, cufflinks, Jewel incrusted clocks, tiaras and precious ornaments. Deborah grew up in the Kent countryside surrounded by animals and nature and started painting with her mother who was a portrait painter at a very young age. After art college Deborah co-founded a ran a successful ceramic design business in Portobello Road, London, designing, making and selling contemporary ceramics and undertaking commissions for well know media clients. Moving back to Kent in her thirties Deborah taught art and returning to painting, her first love, developed her still-life painting style. Deborah works in oil and acrylics building up her paintings with layers and washes to achieve depth and richness. Pattern, texture, decoration, shapes and colour are all important elements in her work. Working from life is vital to Deborah so that she can capture the essence of her subject. Jugs and vases spill over with fresh flowers and she will often paint part of one of her abstract paintings in the background to add an extra element to the composition.
