Jan Schonk
Jan Schonk was a Dutch graphic artist, ceramic designer, painter and illustrator, born in 1889, in Schiedam, the Netherlands. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Technical Sciences in Rotterdam. After completing his studies, he started working as an independent artist.
From 1925-30, Jan worked as a freelance designer at Plateel Pottery South Holland ceramic studios, where he designed relief tiles, animal sculptures, vases and pots. With his woodcuts, lithographs and etchings, he is recognized as one of the most important graphic artists of the 1900s.
