An magnificent, fine and impressive, large antique Victorian English sterling silver spirit kettle made by Barnard & Sons Ltd, an addition to our antique silver teaware collection.
This magnificent antique Victorian sterling silver spirit kettle has a six paneled urn shaped form onto a hexagonal paneled spreading pedestal foot.
The surface to this large spirit kettle is embellished with exceptional bright cut engraved foliate festoons incorporating quatrefoil leaf motifs and suspended from rosette designs to each edge.
The decoration to the body incorporates two oval cartouches, one of which remains vacant.
The cartouche to the anterior surface is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest of an antelope's head couped, charged on the neck with four mullets in cross, and holding in the mouth a rose, slipped and leaved, displayed below the motto 'Nil extra numerum'- Nothing is beyond reckoning up*.
The upper portion of the kettle is embellished with bands of bright cut engraved undulating borders paralleling the shape of the shoulders.

Each piece has a plain Navette form onto a plain spreading foot.
The bodies of the sugar caster and creamer are embellished to either side with a fine and impressive bright cut engraved shield shaped vacant cartouche surmounted with an urn design accented with festoons anchored by pensile foliate motifs.

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian sterling silver water pitcher/jug; part of our antique dining silverware collection.
This exceptional sterling silver water jug has a baluster shaped form onto a circular spreading foot.
The waisted cylindrical neck of this silver jug is embellished with impressive stylised leaf motifs, segmented with opposing scroll designs.
The lower swept portion of the neck is encompassed with the contemporary engraved inscription 'To Charles Edward Rawlins, junior honorary secretary to the Liverpool Anti Monopoly Association anno domini MDCCCXLII to MDCCCXLVII'; these Roman numerals convert to the Latin dates 1842 and 1847.
The bulbous portion of the body is embellished with exceptional engraved scene depicting a female figure draped in flowing fabric being carried by a male character; this male could be associated to Hermes, the Greek Olympian deity and the herald of the gods.
The other side of this exceptional jug is further embellished with a main, central female being adorned and clothed by three semiclad figures.
The body of this exceptional example of antique silverware is further ornamented with two large scrolling palmette style designs, all on a matte background.
The lower portion of the jug is encompassed with an interlacing scalloped style pendant bud design.
The neck is embellished to the upper portion with impressive gadroon decoration to the shaped rim.
The jug is fitted with an exceptional hinged hallmarked cover, surmounted with an impressive cast leaf decorated thumbpiece, accented with further scrolling decoration to the domed portion.
This antique silver jug is fitted with an impressive elevated loop style handle ornamented with an exceptional cast and applied figural mark design to the lower terminal.
This exceptional jug was crafted by the renowned London silversmiths Edward, John & William Barnard.
Condition
This antique English silver water jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The cast and applied decoration is very sharp and the engraved decoration is very crisp.
Full English hallmarks struck to the neck of the jug are all very clear.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver presentation cup with cover and original plinth; an addition to our presentation silverware collection.
This exceptional antique sterling silver cup with stand has a plain Campania shaped form onto a circular spreading, knopped pedestal foot.
The bulbous lower portion of the body is encircled with a chased fluted decorated border below a cast and applied interlacing band.
The flared upper rim of this antique sterling silver cup is ornamented with an impressive chased egg and tongue decorated border.
This silver antique presentation cup is fitted with two very impressive cast and applied ribbed handles accented with a gadroon decorated knop to the hand piece, in addition to grotesque figural masks to the terminals.
This exceptional example of antique silverware retains the original hallmarked plain tiered push fit cover surmounted with the original hallmarked cast and applied foliate, bud style finial; this secures to the interior with a gilt screw fitment.
The interior of the cup and cover retains the original gilding.
This fine antique silver cup is fitted to the original circular ebonized plinth, featuring the original, hallmarked vacant silver inscription plaque; the plaque may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired.
The upper plateau of the plinth features the inset retailer's panel 'Brown & Son, Chester, Silversmiths'.

This antique sterling silver cup with stand is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The applied, cast and chased decoration is all very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the cup, presentation plaque and interior of the cover, in addition to the part hallmarks to the finial are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
